The Tarot Cabinet
Welcome to The Tarot Cabinet!
It's full of cards, questions, strange little experiments, and probably at least one thing that should not have been opened.
I've been reading tarot for a very long time (more than 30 years) and one of the things I love most about it is that tarot doesn't have to be used for only one thing. Yes, we can ask about relationships, decisions, obstacles, possibilities, and all the other questions people have been bringing to the cards forever.
But we can also play with them. We can tell stories with them.
We can use them to explore imaginary worlds, solve mysteries, create characters, investigate impossible situations, stumble into surprisingly useful insights, and occasionally determine why a duck has placed a curse upon us.
That's what you'll find here.
The Tarot Cabinet is where I keep all of my Tarot-related posts, spreads, games, experiments, and assorted divinatory weirdness.
Some readings will be thoughtful. Some will be introspective. Some will be spooky. Some will be ridiculous.
And quite a few will probably begin as ridiculous and somehow end with you staring at a card thinking:
Well, shit.
Tarot for Strange Occasions
One of the collections you'll find inside the Cabinet is Tarot for Strange Occasions.
These aren't your usual tarot spreads.
Each one begins with a peculiar little premise.
Perhaps you've discovered a door in your house that wasn't there yesterday. Maybe your future self has called you with a warning. Maybe you've been murdered and would really like to know who did it.
Or perhaps you've angered a duck with magical abilities and an alarming capacity for holding grudges???
You draw the cards to find out what happens.
Sometimes the result becomes a story. Sometimes it reveals something surprisingly relevant about your actual life. Sometimes it's simply an excuse to sit down with your cards and have a ridiculously good time.
All three are valid.
Come Dig Around
You don't need to believe tarot predicts the future to play here.
You don't need to memorize every card meaning.
You don't need a special deck, a particular reading style, or permission from the universe.
Bring your cards (or, eventually, you can come here to print out your own, for free!), your imagination, and your curiosity.
Open the Cabinet and see what you find.
(Just be careful which drawers you pull out. Because I don't actually remember putting all of those in there..........)
